Im Jahr 1951 stellten die Ulmer K\u00e4ssbohrer Fahrzeugwerke den S 8 (Bild) vor und gaben der Marke so ihren Namen Setra, der f\u00fcr \u201eselbsttragend\u201c steht. Der erste in Serie gefertigte Omnibus mit selbsttragender Karosserie, Heckmotor und direktem Antrieb auf die Hinterachse wurde auf der Internationalen Automobil Ausstellung IAA in Frankfurt pr\u00e4sentiert. In den vergangenen 70 Jahren hat die Marke mit insgesamt sechs Baureihen Ma\u00dfst\u00e4be im europ\u00e4ischen Omnibusbau gesetzt, ihn befl\u00fcgelt, ver\u00e4ndert und vorangetrieben.
